With crispy edges and a soft center loaded with buttery garlic flavor, this Super Easy Parmesan Garlic Bread is the kind of side that steals the show. I’m not even mad about it.

Super Easy Parmesan Garlic Bread

{Behind the scenes we have had some issues with motivation to write (AND WHO HASN’T?), so we’ve changed our format to a Q&A which Olivia seems to prefer.}

What would you rate this recipe?

9/10. It’s cheese. It’s bread. It’s butter. What else could you need?!

How would you describe the flavors and experience of eating this dish with someone who has never tasted it before? The bread is fluffy and warm, but has the baked crispy edges that were really good.

It had so much butter. And, it was salty. And, the cheese was super warm, but not super gooey. I don’t know how to describe the flavor of cheese, but it was so good.

What part of making this dish did you enjoy the most, and why? The part I enjoyed the most was when I was spreading the butter. It was so satisfying! And, pulling it out of the oven. I felt proud of myself and what we had made.

Did you feel like you learned anything while making it? Especially when it comes to things like this, there is the possibility of having too much cheese. Even though I don’t want to accept it.

Dad kept telling me I had to spread the cheese out because I was putting too much in one spot. Just make sure that you be careful with how much you put because otherwise it can melt off the sides of the bread and get messy in the oven.

If we made it again, what would you want to do differently next time?

I would probably make more. I liked it a lot. And, it didn’t really have any leftovers. Can you save garlic bread in the fridge? I don’t know. But, I would have made more.

Two halves of a french loaf on a pan, fresh from the oven covered in garlic butter and shredded parmesan cheese.

Dad’s Notes:

It really is super easy to make this parmesan garlic bread. I don’t really have much to add except to agree with Olivia’s rating and desire for another loaf.

I ate WAYYY too much, but would have still eaten more. Pair this parmesan bread (like we did!) with a bowl of classic Ragu Bolognese.

Total Time 15 minutes

Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • ¼ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese shredded
  • tsp garlic powder

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 300. Then, slice the loaf in half, lengthwise. Place crust side down on a baking sheet.
  2. Melt the butter in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then, use a basting brush or a butter sprayer to coat the tops of the bread. Sprinkle the garlic powder evenly across the buttered bread.
  3. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top of the bread. For best results, use freshly shredded parmesan. Place in the oven, and bake for 5 minutes.
  4. To finish, broil the loaves for approximately 1-2 minutes, depending on how powerful your oven is. Keep a close eye on them during this time!

Just pass me that tray. And yes, while I hate to admit it, you really can have too much cheese sometimes. This looks perfect!
