Cinnamon Toast
What would you rate this recipe?
7.5/10. I liked the cinnamon and I loved how easy it was to make this quick and easy snack. What brought it down was that I didn’t have a very steady hand with the cinnamon and so some parts had a lot of cinnamon and some parts didn’t.
How would you describe the flavors and experience of eating this dish with someone who has never tasted it before?
It was buttery and a nice consistency in your mouth between the soft bread and crunchy toasted parts. Other parts had a sweet and cinnamon-y flavor.
What part of making this dish did you enjoy the most, and why?
I really enjoyed spreading the butter around as it softened and melted. And, I also liked taking the pictures of the toast. I liked the feeling of being in control of the camera, since most of what I do is writing and cooking.
Did you feel like you learned anything while making it?
I learned how to spread out the cinnamon if you add too much. You just turn the toast with the direction you want the cinnamon to go at the bottom, then shake it gently.
If we made it again, what would you want to do differently next time?
I would probably ask for help shaking the cinnamon out, so that it’s consistent across the top. I would also warm up the butter in the microwave a little before spreading it out onto the bread, so it’s softer.

Dad’s Notes
What is there to say? My mom didn’t give us a lot of sweets, growing up. So, this recipe goes WAAAAY back for me. Cinnamon and sugar make a beautiful couple, pretty much any way you look at it.
This is basically a second-class cinnamon roll. Having said that, I do think we should try our hand at some real cinnamon rolls, soon.

Method
- Place the bread slices in the toaster.
- While the bread is toasting, mix together the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl or ramekin. You can also soften the butter for a few seconds in the microwave during this time.
- When the toast is finished, spread the butter evenly across the tops. Then gently sprinkle the cinnamon sugar to cover each slice.
